Your Dental Story (“Your Dental Story,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit https://yourdentalstory.com (the “Site”), contact us, request an appointment, or otherwise interact with our online services.

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the Site and our online marketing activities. It does not replace our Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes how we use and disclose protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). If there is a conflict regarding protected health information, our Notice of Privacy Practices controls.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Contact and identifying information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, and other information you provide.

Appointment and inquiry information, such as whether you are a new or existing patient, how you heard about us, your preferred appointment details, and the content of messages you submit.

Device and internet activity information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring URL, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the dates and times you use the Site.

Please do not include sensitive medical, dental, financial, or insurance information in a general website contact form unless the form is specifically identified as a secure method for providing that information. If you are experiencing a medical or dental emergency, call 911 or seek appropriate emergency care.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

Directly from you when you complete a form, request an appointment, call us, email us, or otherwise communicate with us.

Automatically through cookies, pixels, tags, log files, and similar technologies when you use the Site.

From service providers and advertising partners that help us operate the Site, schedule appointments, analyze traffic, or measure and deliver advertising.

From referral sources or other parties when permitted by law.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

Respond to questions and appointment requests.

Provide, coordinate, and improve our services.

Communicate with you about appointments, services, and administrative matters.

Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.

Understand how visitors use the Site.

Measure the effectiveness of our marketing and advertising.

Deliver or help deliver relevant advertisements, subject to your privacy choices.

Detect fraud, security incidents, misuse, and technical problems.

Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, patients, personnel, and others.

We do not use information collected through advertising technologies to make decisions about your eligibility for dental treatment, insurance, credit, employment, housing, or other similarly significant services.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your browser or device. We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies in the following categories:

Strictly necessary technologies help the Site function, provide security, remember privacy choices, and enable requested features.

Analytics technologies help us understand visits, traffic sources, and how visitors interact with the Site.

Advertising technologies help measure advertising, understand whether an advertisement led to a visit or action, create audiences, and deliver more relevant advertising.

You can manage non-essential technologies through the Cookie Settings link on the Site. You can also adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking some technologies may affect Site functionality. Your choices are generally browser- and device-specific, so you may need to make them again on another browser or device or after clearing cookies.

Where required by applicable law, we will obtain consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

5. Google Analytics and Google Ads

We use Google Analytics to understand Site usage and may use Google Ads to measure advertising performance, attribute conversions, build audiences, and deliver advertisements. Google may collect or receive device and internet activity information through cookies and similar identifiers, including information about your interactions with the Site and our advertisements.

Depending on our configuration, we and Google may use first-party cookies or identifiers together with Google advertising cookies or other third-party identifiers for measurement, attribution, remarketing, and advertising features. We do not knowingly send Google information that directly identifies you or information about specific dental conditions or treatments for personalized advertising.

You may manage Google advertising personalization through Google’s Ads Settings. You may also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. These Google controls are separate from the choices available through our Site.

For more information, review How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

6. Meta Pixel

We may use the Meta Pixel and related Meta Business Tools to understand actions taken on the Site, measure the effectiveness of advertising on Facebook and Instagram, create advertising audiences, and deliver or help deliver relevant advertisements. Meta may collect or receive device and internet activity information, such as cookie or device identifiers, IP address, browser information, pages visited, and actions taken on the Site.

Meta processes information according to its own privacy terms. You can learn more and manage certain advertising preferences through Meta’s Privacy Center and Accounts Center Ad Preferences.

We do not knowingly configure the Meta Pixel to collect the content of appointment inquiries or information about specific dental conditions or treatments.

7. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information to:

Service providers and contractors that provide website hosting, security, appointment technology, communications, analytics, advertising, and other operational services.

Advertising and analytics partners, including Google and Meta, as described above.

Professional advisers, such as attorneys, accountants, insurers, and auditors.

Government authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.

Parties to a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some disclosures involving advertising cookies or similar technologies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California law, even when no money is exchanged. Subject to applicable law, you may opt out as explained below.

8. California Privacy Rights

California privacy rights vary depending on the law that applies and the nature of the information. Subject to applicable law and exceptions, California residents may have the right to:

Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about them.

Know the categories of sources, purposes for collection or use, and categories of third parties to which information is disclosed.

Request deletion of personal information.

Request correction of inaccurate personal information.

Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information when the applicable legal conditions are met.

Receive equal service and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.

To submit a request to know, delete, or correct information, contact us using the information in Section 15. To opt out of advertising-related sale or sharing, use the Your Privacy Choices or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the Site footer and disable advertising cookies.

Where required by law, we recognize qualifying browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a request to opt out of sale or sharing for the browser or device that sends the signal. If we can reasonably associate the signal with your account or identity, we will apply it as required by law. You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity or the agent’s authority before completing certain requests; an opt-out request does not require identity verification unless needed to prevent fraud.

We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If we deny a request, we will explain the basis when required.

California Notice at Collection

At or before collection, we collect the categories described in Section 1 for the purposes described in Section 3. We retain each category only as long as reasonably necessary for the disclosed purposes, including to meet legal, accounting, security, and operational requirements. We do not sell personal information for money. We may share identifiers and internet or other electronic network activity with analytics and advertising partners for measurement and cross-context behavioral advertising, subject to your right to opt out where applicable.

9. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not a universally accepted standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, the Site may not respond to them. We do, however, process qualifying opt-out preference signals such as GPC when required by applicable law.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to respond to requests, provide services, maintain business and tax records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect security, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, how it is used, and applicable legal requirements.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without authorization from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 for cross-context behavioral advertising without the affirmative authorization required by California law.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site may link to third-party websites or services, including scheduling, payment, financing, mapping, social media, and review platforms. Those parties operate under their own privacy policies and practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing information.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. If required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
